Katy Perry Opens Up about Her Divorce in New Documentary

Katy Perry has remained relatively silent about her divorce from actor Russell Brand, until recently. In a new documentary film about the pop singer entitled “Part of Me,” Perry opens up about her failed marriage. The film reveals the tension created by a flourishing career that ultimately tore apart her marriage.

In the film, Perry talks about how she did everything possible to save her marriage. She would regularly fly around the world to see Brand on off days, creating a schedule that left her physically and emotionally exhausted.

“I thought to myself, when I find that person that’s going to be my life partner, I won’t ever have to choose [between the partner and my career]. They won’t be threatened or have weird motives. Then I started to realize, that’s not true,” admits Perry in the film. She also declares through teary eyes that she still misses Brand.

It seems that if anyone would be able to understand the rigors of a demanding music career, it would be Brand. As an actor, his career forces him to deal with many of the same stressors that Perry must deal with when she is on tour. However, these stresses were apparently too difficult for the couple to work through, and earlier this year they parted ways in divorce.

Hopefully Perry is able to learn from the failures of her marriage with Russell Brand so that her next relationship can thrive in spite of her hectic schedule and booming music career.
